Carson Roberts, R.N., from Narconon South Texas gave a lecture today on drugs to the youth participating in the Brighter, Better Me program. Carson defined what a drug is and how they can negatively affect the body. She stressed that drugs deplete the body of vitamins and minerals and harm the immune system and the ability to think clearly.
In another part of the day’s activities, the children created poster boards to describe how they followed the precept Take Care of Yourself from the Way to Happiness. Tony Gonzales, Harlingen High School JROTC instructor, along with cadets Mallory Walters, Irene Medrano, and Rachel Salas, assisted them.
The children then used them in an oral report on their activities following TWTH precept. The JROTC cadets acted as judges and selected Lyanna Juarez to receive the Outstanding Achievement award for her presentation. The children were all given a Burger King crown and awarded ribbons for participation.
Also, the KB Foundation of Texas provided the children with backpacks. Award ribbons, poster boards, and snacks were provided from Harlingen High School JROTC. Narconon South Texas provided drug free bracelets for each child.
